Husband, Father, Craftsman

Joseph Maki is a husband and father before all else, the hearth being the first workshop where the Lord shapes a man. From there, he turned his hands to the craft—fifteen years in manufacturing, fabricating, and making nearly anything that could be coaxed out of metal, wood, resin, or stubborn machinery.

That long apprenticeship in the world of industry led him, in God’s own wyrd-bent way, to sacred art: sculpture, carving, and the patient shaping of the holy with the same rugged skill he once brought to the shop floor.

Joe is the creator of The Way of the Rood, a Stations of the Cross series that blends Anglo-Saxon sensibility with a deep Catholic devotion. His work aims to restore a sense of strength, awe, and reverence to the sacred—art built to outlast the age, and maybe shame a few faint-hearted saints back into courage.

If you want it longer, shorter, holier, grittier, or more likely to make an editor choke on his tea, just say the word.
